END-MONTH REVIEW

There’s something quite special that happens when we reflect on what we’ve done. One is that we gain a better understanding of what we’ve done or learned. Our belief in our own abilities increases. Reflection improves what we have learned to stick in our minds and our performance. The process of reflection is one of the most important tools we can use to change our behaviour. Without studying what we do and what we want, it’s hard to know how to change and what’s working or not working.

If you find it difficult to sit down every week and reflect on your progress, you’re not alone. You can keep track of your habits, but to-do lists aren’t much fun to review because they tend to include lots of tasks, we should do but don’t want to, and things we want to do but can’t right now. To overcome this issue and still be able to reflect on the previous month’s highlights, intentions and ways of being, I thought I’d share the template that includes several questions that you can ponder upon.

If you’re ready to try your own review, take a pen and paper, your journal or digital notes and answer the questions. Grab these questions and adjust as you go. You’ll find your own needs change over time and dictate what kind of reflection is most useful.
